Food and more…
For Europeans and Americans, pumpkins, as is known, are also an important element in the design of the All Saints’ Day – when, according to legend, the evil grin of pumpkin lanterns should scare away the walking evil spirits. To do this, they cut out different faces from the pumpkin – who knows what! This process is actually an interesting thing – it’s called “carving”. Everyone can try! It is enough to draw simple-shaped eyes and a mouth and cut them out, after removing the contents; and place a lit candle at the bottom of the empty pumpkin. There are a couple more secrets: it is recommended to wipe the inside with vinegar (to protect it from damage), and on the outside, for extra shine, you can spray it with varnish – at least the one for hair. It is believed that the more terrible the result looks, the better it protects children and household members from evil spirits.
