Pomelo is a fruit of the citrus family that grows in the tropics. Its homeland is considered to be Malaysia and China. The first written mention of pomelo dates back to 100 BC. e., and it was brought to Europe by British sailors in the 14th century. It grows on evergreen trees, which sometimes reach ten meters in height. This is the largest citrus fruit. In Russia, fruits weighing up to 2 kg are usually sold, but pomelo can grow up to 10 kg.
By crossing this plant with an orange, breeders got grapefruit. A hybrid of pomelo and white grapefruit – sweetie.
